How to use it
- Each player gets 10 cards. One card is turned face up to start the discard pile.
- On your turn, take the top card of the stock or the discard pile, then throw one card away.
- Group cards into sets (3–4 of the same rank) and runs (3 or more in a row of the same suit).
- Cards not in a set or run are deadwood. Aces count 1, face cards 10, others their number.
- When your deadwood is 10 or less you may knock. With zero deadwood you go gin.
- The opponent then lays off cards onto your melds, and the hands are scored.
Questions
How is a hand scored?
The knocker scores the difference in deadwood. Gin earns a 25-point bonus (31 for Big Gin with all 11 cards). If the defender has equal or less deadwood, that is an undercut: the defender scores the difference plus 25.
How long is a game?
Usually first to 100 points. Our game also lets you play to 50 or 150.
What are Oklahoma and Straight Gin?
In Oklahoma Gin the first up-card sets the knock limit. In Straight Gin you can only win by going gin. Both are in our free Android app.
Does the computer cheat?
Not in our game. It only sees its own cards and the discard pile, and both hands are shown when a round ends.
